WISN-TV in Milwaukee rallied viewers to contribute $39,803 to ‘Heat And Housing For Heroes’ through the station’s latest ‘WISN 12 Day of Giving’ fundraiser. The total gathered on Oct. 27 includes $10,000 in matching funds from an anonymous donor, helping double viewer donations. The funds will provide financial support for area veterans to keep their heat and power running during winter.
“Veterans across our state desperately need us, and Wisconsin communities stepped up through this campaign to help them out,” said Shawn Oswald, President and General Manager of WISN 12. “As the cold months set in, the money raised will assist in keeping our heroes’ heat and power running.”
The ‘WISN 12 Day of Giving’ fundraiser contributes to the broader Heat And Housing For Heroes Campaign – a joint effort involving Energy Services, Inc. and the Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool Fund. The organizations support veterans who face life-threatening heat and housing related emergencies, to assist with furnace repairs, oil supply, and utility bill payments. The “Heat and Housing For Heroes” campaign is the latest local organization receiving support through the ‘WISN 12 Day of Giving’ initiative. The ongoing charitable campaign helps a different non-profit each month in advancing their mission, pursuing their goals, and improving people’s lives. To date, the station has raised more than $351,415 for numerous non-profit organizations throughout Wisconsin.
