Gene Purcell is being named the director of Wisconsin Public Media effective Aug. 1.
Purcell replaces longtime director Malcolm Brett, who will retire at the end of July. He is currently the executive director of the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board, the University’s partner in delivering WPR and WPT. Longtime WPR listeners might remember him as a reporter and manager at the La Crosse bureau.
