The 13th annual ‘Food For Families’ holiday food drive, hosted by WISN 12 and long-time partner Hunger Task Force, has raised $156,156 to for local families to have healthy meals during the holidays. The donations from Milwaukee area viewers, along with corporate matching funds, equate to more than 10,400 turkeys, or 1,000 holiday meal boxes for those in need.
“When southeastern Wisconsin sees people in need, they step up. They open their hearts, and they help out,” said Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN 12. “The kindness and compassion across our community is truly amazing.”
The 2024 ‘Food For Families’ holiday food drive took place on Nov. 26-27. During the campaign, more than 1,000 viewers submitted donations online or called in to the WISN 12 phone bank. In addition to individual contributions from across the community, local companies including Hydrite, SVA, and Zurn Elkay Water Solutions, provided corporate matching donations valued at a total of $43,000.
“The matching funds really amplified this campaign so we could make the greatest impact on people’s lives,” Wade said. “Those companies serve as shining examples of how organizations play a critical role in bolstering our communities.”
For more than a decade, WISN 12 has partnered with Hunger Task Force on this food drive. Since launching the campaign in 2012, the ‘Food For Families’ holiday food drive has raised $1,921,739.
