A multimedia videographer at Woodward Community Media is the recipient of the Rick Jowett Fellowship.
Logan O’Leary says while Woodward has a strong radio tradition, they’re forging a new path forward to also making it a reliable video production company.
As the sole videographer for the company, he wants to grow the effort into a team of three to five skilled videographers.
“The key is to never put any limits on what we envision for ourselves,” O’Leary wrote. “Every opportunity deserves consideration, and every idea deserves to be taken seriously.”
He plans to use the $1,987 grant to take courses through the Art of Documentary online academy.
The Rick Jowett Fellowship was established in 2017 by the WBA Foundation to support educational opportunities for photographers and videographers who work in media in Wisconsin. Recipients of the fellowship can use the grant for professional development in the areas of photography and videography.

The annual submission deadline is June 1. Rick Jowett grew up in a media family and spent his career in photography working for the Wausau Herald and WMTV-TV in Madison. Rick began working with the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association in 1985 as the Association’s event photographer. He served graciously and unconditionally until his passing.
