Instagram catches up

One of the frustrations many stations likely have with Instagram is that it is still a platform built around individuals. Stations that have an account have  to have their business needs met by a personal platform.

That’s finally changing. You can read the details here.

Basically, Instagram will soon roll out new features that will allow brands to have some of the many tools they’re used to having through Facebook pages. It will be a welcome upgrade.

Many stations might still be wondering what to do with Instagram. Newspapers have done well with the platform, largely, I would argue, because of their experience with the power of the still image.

But that’s something broadcasters can be good at too…we just need to be looking for it.

I’ve seen stations take different approaches with Instagram. Some seem to work better than others, but that always depends on what your goals are.

Like any platform, you want to set some goals for yourself and find ways to reach them….reassess, and reach for those next goals.

Thankfully, Instagram will soon make that much easier.
