Four broadcasters celebrated during WBA Hall of Fame induction

Four new names were added to the WBA Hall of Fame on Thursday night during the induction event at Hotel Retlaw in Fond du Lac as a part of the WBA Summer Conference.

The four inductees are:

Steve Brown is a broadcast engineer who’s focused on giving back to his industry, cultivating relationships, and building a future for broadcasting on a local, state, and national level.

Patty Loew, Ph.D., built a long career in Wisconsin broadcasting and journalism as part of a lifelong effort to mentor, model, and educate people throughout the country about Native American culture and model the virtues of civic-minded broadcasting.

David Robinson has dedicated his career both to radio and to whole-heartedly serving the western Wisconsin communities his stations cover.

Since 1994, Matt Lepay has been known as the Voice of the Badgers for both UW football and men’s basketball and has called key games on Wisconsin radio stations for a generation.

The Wisconsin Broadcasters Hall of Fame was created in 1989 to honor broadcasters that have devoted a minimum of 25 years to the Wisconsin broadcasting industry The award recognizes an individual’s history of exemplary leadership in community and statewide service as a broadcast professional. The Hall of Fame is housed at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center and at the WBA Hall of Fame website: www.wisconsinbroadcastingmuseum.org.

With this year’s inductees, the WBA Hall of Fame membership roll grows to 164 members.

Bob Lindmeier’s leadership, advocacy, and influence in broadcast meteorology reach far beyond the impact he’s had on his southern Wisconsin viewers during his more than 45 years in the business.

The Local Broadcast Legends Award is a great honor and recognition for individuals that work behind the scenes and within their communities fulfilling the commitment broadcasters have made to serve their local communities. They are individuals who exemplify localism. This award is a means to extend recognition of these individuals beyond their local communities.
