A group of broadcasters has organized the “Heart of Wisconsin Radio Broadcaster Reunion,” scheduled for Jan. 9 in Menasha.
Organizers said, “the social event (is) designed to bring together former coworkers from area radio and TV stations, media professionals, friends, and fans for an afternoon of connection, conversation, and shared memories.”
The reunion will take place Jan. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Stone Toad Bar and Grill, 119 Oneida St., Menasha. The snow date is Jan. 23.
“Created to honor the region’s broadcasting heritage, the reunion focuses on good conversation and mutual experience — the very elements that have shaped local media throughout the years,” the release stated. “Attendees will include former and current broadcasters, engineers, producers, newsroom staff, station leaders, supporters, friends, and fans who helped bring local stories to life or simply enjoyed them.”
“I have been part of station-specific reunions before, but this one feels special because it brings together not only former co-workers but also longtime competitors,” said co-event coordinator Vicki Johnson. “Many of our radio friends are no longer with us, and this gathering gives us a chance to honor their memory, reflect on the past, and create new moments together.”
Organizer Patrick Martin Lopeman, who has more than 50 years of radio experience, said, “I’ve come to appreciate the profound impact Central Wisconsin broadcasters have had on the industry as a whole.” The event invites all who have contributed to — or simply enjoyed — local radio and TV in the Heart of Wisconsin region. Everyone with a passion for community media is welcome.
