This week’s Weekly Radio Addresses from Wisconsin’s Capitol discuss the election and veterans. These addresses are available for Wisconsin broadcasters to use as they see fit. Here are the summaries from WisPolitics:
— In this week’s Dem radio address, Gov. Tony Evers thanks those involved in administering the November election.
“I declared 2026 the Year of the Neighbor in Wisconsin because I want to spend this year celebrating the wonderful neighbors who make our state the great place it is to call home,” Evers says.
The Dem governor says that includes “dedicated local clerks, election administrators, poll workers, voter education groups and postal service workers” who help “make our voices heard in our democracy.”
“So, on behalf of an entire state, I want to express my sincere appreciation for all those who work tirelessly to protect the integrity of our elections and provide safe, secure and accessible voting experiences for voters all across Wisconsin,” Evers says. “You are heroes to me, to our neighbors and to our communities, and to our democracy.”
— In this week’s GOP radio address, Sen. André Jacque, R-New Franken, celebrates Veterans Day, which falls on Wednesday.
“Military service represents a commitment to something greater than oneself. It means accepting extraordinary responsibilities and being willing to make sacrifices that most Americans will never fully understand,” Jacque says.
Jacque goes on to say that honoring veterans is “deeply personal,” as he has family, friends and legislative staff members who have served. He calls on others to support veterans’ organizations and asks listeners to personally thank a veteran.
“This Veterans Day, I encourage everyone to take a moment to personally thank a veteran. Let them know that their service mattered, that their sacrifices are appreciated, and that their fellow Americans have not forgotten,” Jacque says. “May God bless our veterans, their families and the United States of America.”
