This week’s Weekly Radio Addresses from Wisconsin’s Capitol focus on Pride Month and the state budget. These addresses are available for Wisconsin broadcasters to use as they see fit. Here are the summaries from WisPolitics:
— In this week’s , Gov. Tony Evers celebrates the start of Pride Month, promising he will fight to protect the rights of all LGBTQ+ Wisconsinites.
The Dem governor says he is “jazzed” to be kicking off the seventh annual Pride celebration in Wisconsin. Although it is the seventh year celebrating Pride in Wisconsin, it is the 10th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage across the country.
“So, today, and this June, we’re celebrating 10 years of visibility, 10 years of love, and 10 years of continued bravery, activism, and advocacy together,” Evers says “Folks, when the Pride Flag flies above the People’s House, it sends a clear and unequivocal message that Wisconsin recognizes and celebrates LGBTQ Wisconsinites and Americans.”
— In this week’s , Sen. Dan Feyen says he believes Republicans will craft a budget by the July 1 deadline despite a breakdown in talks between their legislative leaders and the governor.
“Both sides came to the table willing to find compromise — but at the end of the day, the governor’s spending priorities go far beyond what taxpayers can afford,” the Fond du Lac Republican says. Feyen notes that the Republicans’ focus remains the same, regarding respecting taxpayers, fulfilling funding obligations, upgrading technology and cutting waste at the same time.
