This week’s Weekly Radio Addresses from Wisconsin’s Capitol discuss Veterans’ Day and Election Hero Day. These addresses are available for Wisconsin broadcasters to use as they see fit. Here are the summaries from WisPolitics:
— In this week’s, Sen. André Jacque thanks veterans for their service ahead of Veterans Day on Monday.
“Time and again, before and since, seemingly common men and women have displayed uncommon valor in times of great peril to themselves, to defend our liberty,” the De Pere Republican says. “Yet for every story told by a veteran, there are countless others that are never known, that can never be fully told.”
Jacque says it is critical to honor those who have served the United States, noting Wisconsin enacted his proposal to end the state’s tax on military pay two years ago.
“This Veterans Day, let us remember to honor the courage sacrifice, and dedication of our service members who have risen to the call of duty and put on hold their dreams to preserve the dreams of our nation and fought to keep America safe and free — not just on Nov. 11th, but every other day of the year as well,” Jacque says.
— In this week’s , Gov. Tony Evers thanks election officials and workers.
The Dem governor in October Nov. 4, 2024 Election Hero Day, an “opportunity to honor, recognize, and thank our dedicated local clerks, administrators, poll workers, voter education groups, and postal service workers.” He acknowledges the challenges election workers have faced in recent years, but commends their commitment to ensuring elections occur as they should.
“In Wisconsin, our election workers are our friends and neighbors who answer the call to serve and go above and beyond to ensure our elections are safe and secure,” Evers says.
Evers says election workers are working to promote voter engagement and participation, protect access to the ballot box and ensure every eligible ballot is counted. “I want to express my sincere appreciation for those who work tirelessly to protect the integrity of our elections and provide safe, secure, and accessible voting experiences for voters all across Wisconsin,” the Evers says.
