Weekly Radio Addresses discuss taxes, health care

Weekly Addresses

This week’s Weekly Radio Addresses from Wisconsin’s Capitol discuss taxes and health care. These addresses are available for Wisconsin broadcasters to use as they see fit. Here are the summaries from WisPolitics:

— In this week’s Republican radio address, GOP Sen. Julian Bradley slams Dem Gov. Tony Evers for the lack of middle class tax reliefs.

The Franklin Republican blames rising costs of groceries, housing and gas on the implementation of ‘Bidenomics’ in Wisconsin, which he describes as “higher taxes and reckless government spending.”

“Tony Evers poured gasoline on the fire by doling out millions in federal dollars like candy to his political allies,” he says.

Bradley argues that a Republican-led tax cut proposal will decrease inflation and ease tight budgets.

“Governor Evers, it’s time to do the right thing for Wisconsin and sign a middle class tax cut,” Bradley says

— In this week’s Dem radio address, Gov. Tony Evers encourages Wisconsinites to enroll in health care coverage.

The open enrollment period for healthcare coverage from HealthCare.gov opened Wednesday and will go through Jan. 15. The Dem governor says 89 percent of Wisconsinites enrolled in a plan saw reduced costs on their premiums in 2022.

“Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen a growing number of enrollments in Wisconsin’s marketplace,” he says.

Evers partnered with the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and the Department of Health Services in 2020 to launch WisCovered.com, a site meant to make affordable health care more accessible.

“Health care shouldn’t be a privilege afforded only to the healthy and wealthy,” Evers says.
