Weekly Radio Addresses discuss PFAS, law enforcement

Weekly Addresses

This week’s Weekly Radio Addresses from Wisconsin’s Capitol are about PFAS and law enforcement. These addresses are available for Wisconsin broadcasters to use as they see fit. Here are the summaries from WisPolitics:

— In this week’s Democratic radio address, Gov. Tony Evers pushes Republicans to release funds allocated to dealing with PFAS contamination.

The Democratic governor signed a budget last July that provided $125 million to address and prevent PFAS contamination. The funds have yet to be released, however, which Evers attributes to Republicans in the Legislature.

“This funding shouldn’t be sitting around in Madison waiting for Republicans to get their act together,” he says.

Evers has submitted a formal request for the release of the funds, but there has been no movement on the issue to date.

— In this week’s Republican radio address, Sen. Jesse James thanks law enforcement officers in Wisconsin for their service.

The Altoona Republican notes that January 9 is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. James is a former police and fire chief, and continues to work as a part-time police officer when not at the Capitol.

“I’ve seen firsthand how much sacrifice, dedication, and courage go into the law enforcement profession,” James says.

James highlights law enforcement as often being first on the scene. He urges Wisconsinites to thank law enforcement personnel this week.
