Weekly Radio Addresses discuss mental health, data protection

Weekly Addresses

This week’s Weekly Radio Addresses from Wisconsin’s Capitol are about mental health and data protection. These addresses are available for Wisconsin broadcasters to use as they see fit. Here are the summaries from WisPolitics:

— In this week’s Dem radio address, Gov. Tony Evers and first lady Kathy Evers emphasize taking care of mental health.

Earlier this year, the Democratic governor declared 2023 the Year of Mental Health. With the holidays approaching, Evers acknowledges that it can be a difficult time of year for some people.

“Remember that help and hope are always available,” Evers says. “Let’s take good care of ourselves and each other this holiday season, Wisconsin.”

— In this week’s GOP radio address, Rep. Shannon Zimmerman raises concerns about the future of data protection.

The River Falls Republican has introduced Assembly Bill 466, which aims to protect consumer data. It would create compliance requirements for businesses and specify rights consumers have over their own data.

“This bill, I think, is one of the most important bills we’re going to pass this entire session,” he says.

Zimmerman points out that the future is only going to contain more dangers to consumer data as AI expands.
