This week’s Weekly Radio Addresses from Wisconsin’s Capitol highlight indigenous communities and protecting women in sports. These addresses are available for Wisconsin broadcasters to use as they see fit. Here are the summaries from WisPolitics:
— In this week’s Democratic radio address, Gov. Tony Evers highlights efforts to build strong relationships with Indigenous communities in Wisconsin.
The governor recognized Indigenous Peoples’ Day during his first term. Evers also signed a budget that made investments designated to strengthen the wellbeing of Native Nations in Wisconsin and strengthen their economies.
He praises work that’s been done to expand affordable housing on tribal lands and the unveiling of dual-language road signs featuring both English and Indigenous languages.
“My commitment has been and will always be to strengthen our government-to-government partnership with the Tribal Nations,” he says.

— In this week’s Republican radio address, Rep. Barbara Dittrich praises the Protecting Women in Sports Act.
Dittrich, of Oconomowoc, expressed support for Assembly Bill 377, which would ban Wisconsin student athletes assigned male at birth from competing in girls’ or women’s sports. The bill passed the Assembly on Oct. 12.
The legislation also contains space for an “all” category, according to Rep. Dittrich, meant to accommodate students that do not fit into their gender assigned at birth.
“We cannot go back to the days where women were deprived of their equal participation and deprived of the respect they deserve,” she says.
