— In this week’s Republican radio address, Sen. Mary Felzkowski, of Irma, celebrates the passage of four bills to address dental industry shortages in Wisconsin .
Sixty-four of 72 Wisconsin counties are designated as shortage areas.
The first bill allows for licensure of dental therapists to expand access and lower practice costs. Another bill allows for a one-time $20 million investment for state technical colleges to expand oral healthcare programs on their campuses.
“I’m hopeful the governor will recognize the tremendous value of these investments and sign these bills into law,” she says.

— In this week’s Democratic radio address, Gov. Tony Evers emphasizes the need to expand affordable housing.
The Democratic governor signed a budget that allocated $525 million as an investment in expanding affordable housing in Wisconsin. Last month, Evers announced two new loan programs from this investment.
The Restore Main Street program aims to improve housing above commercial spaces. The Vacant-to-Vitality program will help to cover the costs of turning a vacant commercial building to senior or workforce housing.
“Our continued work to expand affordable housing will help us connect the dots between some of the most pressing challenges facing our state,” Evers says.
