Dylan Eckhart named WAOW-TV Sports Director

Dylan Eckhart was promoted from 9 News Multimedia Journalist to WAOW Sports Director on July 1. Eckhart joins anchor Justin Betti and 9 Storm Track Meteorologist Jackson Garlock weeknights at 6 and 10 p.m.

Eckhart earned a bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV, and Film from the UW-Oshkosh. During his time at Oshkosh, Eckhart was the Sports Director for the campus radio station and called numerous games for UW-Oshkosh athletics.

Eckhart has traveled all over the state covering everything from high school sports to NCAA Division III athletics. His longest travel was 13 hours to Virginia to cover the UW-Oshkosh women’s basketball team in the NCAA Division III Final Four.

“We’re confident that Dylan will continue WAOW’s legacy of providing our viewers with the best sports coverage possible,” said Regional News Director Caroline Bach. “We’re incredibly fortunate Dylan was already on the team and could easily move to the Sports Director position.”

“I’m extremely grateful and eager for this opportunity to lead the WAOW Sports department,” Eckhart said. “Covering Wisconsin sports is my passion, and I’m so excited to take this next step in my career.”

Dylan is originally from Bristol, Wisconsin. During his free time, Dylan enjoys working out, hunting, cooking, spending time with friends, and watching sports.
