Weekend Multimedia Journalist

WXOW, ABC affiliate in La Crosse, WI has an immediate opening for a passionate Multimedia Journalist to join its award-winning team. This is a full time position. We want a creative storyteller who will fight for the lead story and showcase his or her work on multiple platforms, including television, web, mobile and social media. The ideal candidate must have a strong desire for news, with the ability to handle breaking news and live shots with confidence and ease. This is the perfect job for an ambitious, aggressive, curious and motivated journalist. This is not a job for someone who expects “down time”. The successful candidate will have proven skills to develop sources, work a beat, and have solid writing and editing skills. A degree in journalism or a related field is preferred, along with on-air television experience. Experience with AVID iNews and Media Composer is a bonus. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.

The News Photographer operates television or video cameras to record images or scenes for news reports. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: -Shoots audio, video and photos for news reports at various locations where needed. -Has a working knowledge of privacy laws and their application to digital news gathering. -Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, logistics and shot requirements. -Sets up, composes and executes video shots. -Maintains video equipment in professional working order. -Edits video clips for television and website content. -Able to manage video clips for show broadcast and archiving purposes. -Creates content for Local 5’s social media platforms when news merits. -Operates live microwave and satellite trucks in remote situations. -Operates cellular bonded devices for live broadcasts. -Has a strong understanding of NPPA shooting styles. -Performs other duties as assigned.
