Job brief The web editor will assist in planning, writing, editing and presenting content on radiomilwaukee.org The ideal candidate is detail oriented, knows AP style, is a skilled writer and editor, with a strong understanding of how to present content on the web.

Responsibilities
• Work with editorial team to develop ideas for web content
• Maintain editorial calendar; assure deadlines are met, content is updated regularly
• Personally create web content based on on-air programming and 88Nine podcasts
• Proofread and edit content produced by others, in keeping with 88Nine and AP style guides
• Check content for accuracy
• Write headlines that encourage engagement
• Publish content in visually engaging way, following best practices
• Manage assignments of freelance web writers
• Work with Content Director on the ideation and execution of monthly “cover stories” for website
• Comply with copyright and privacy regulations

Requirements
• Experience writing and editing web content
• Portfolio of published work demonstrating excellent writing and editing skills
• Hands-on experience with content management systems, Adobe Creative Cloud or other publishing tools
• Practical, in-depth knowledge of SEO with ability to advise & train team members on best practices
• Attention to detail
• Creative mind
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field

Preferred, but not required
• Experience with WordPress, particularly the Gutenberg editor
• Possess an additional skillset such as audio/radio storytelling, podcasting, photography or web development
• Experience with music and/or lifestyle journalism

  • Take point on weekly/bi-weekly meetings providing clients with status updates, making sure the client understands the value and is receiving desired results.
  • Provide a customer experience conducive to growing new business opportunities within existing client accounts.

This is a full time position 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. An additional number of hours may be available in unexpected circumstances.
