  • Adult Pop Standards
  • Alternative or Progressive - Rock music which first became popular in the late 80s and early nineties. Stations using these formats often play avant-gaarde music which is not customarily played on conventional stations. A common format among college and noncommercial radio stations.
  • Album Oriented Rock - Popular past and present rock album music.
  • Classic Rock - 60s, 70s, and 80s popular rock music.
  • Classical - Frequently play long pieces of classical music without interruption. Program hosts frequently provide commentary on pieces presented.
