The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation contribution to
broadcasting in Wisconsin encompasses a strategic, long term vision for
enhancing, promoting and supporting the broadcast industry by encouraging
the preservation of broadcast history, participating in public affairs
activities in the State of Wisconsin and providing educational
opportunities for professional broadcasters and those who seek future
careers in the broadcast industry. |

Educational Support Grant Applications Due
|
|
The Wisconsin Broadcasters
Association Foundation Educational Support Grant Program is now
accepting applications for 2008 grants with a deadline of Friday, April
12. The Educational Support Grant Program was created in 2000 to award
up to $10,000 annually to assist non-profit college and technical school
broadcast education programs in acquiring equipment, hardware, software,
and/or other teaching materials that are necessary to conduct broadcast
education programs and promote careers in broadcasting. The program has
generated such good responses in the quality of applications, that in
the first seven years, the Foundation Board actually approved $79,795 in
grants. For 2007, the WBA Foundation Board approved four grants to
Wisconsin universities totaling $10,745.15. For more information,

Walker Management Institute Deadline
|
|
The 11th Annual Walker Management
Institute, which is scheduled for May 13-15, is now enrolling
participants for this year’s Institute. The deadline for registration
under a reduced rate of $525 for the 3-day Institute is March 14.
Registrants after that date pay the full registration fee of $595. The
2008 Institute features three single day modules: Financial Management
for Broadcasters, presented by Tom Walker; Customer Service, presented
by UW-Madison School of Business instructor, Bob Shaver; and Managing
Organizational Change & Managing Motivation, presented by Buck Joseph,
Professor Emeritus, UW-Madison School of Business. The guest speaker for
the Wednesday evening all school dinner is Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief
Justice, Shirley Abrahamson. The Walker Management Institute is
presented over three days at UW Madison School of Business. It has been
underwritten by a generous grant from the estate of William R. Walker. |

Foundation Retains Historian
|
The WBA Foundation
has retained the services of Dr. Ellen Langill, author of 13 history
books and numerous historical articles, as its official Historian.
Langill will begin her service with the Foundation in January, 2008.
