Radio Marketing Professional Certification Seminar

Endorsed by the Radio Advertising Bureau

Underwritten by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation

The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation is offering a new program to technical college and university students around the state. The WBA Foundation has pledged its financial support so that students can take advantage of the Radio Advertising Bureau’s (RAB) Certification program to become a Radio Marketing Professional (RMP). The RMP Certification is beneficial if students want to work in broadcast sales or a related business and marketing area. Even if students are not interested in sales or marketing, the seminar introduces them to the business portion of media and helps them to understand how media sales relates to programming decisions, including those involving news broadcasting.

The objectives of the WBA Foundation in offering this opportunity are to certify students to be RMP’s and to expand awareness of the advantages of a career in broadcast sales among Wisconsin college students.

The benefits to students include: an opportunity to take the RMP exam on their campus; a greatly reduced rate for the RMP course and exam; expert assistance with exam material from a veteran instructor; acquisition of the RMP certification to add to their resume; additional broadcast sales knowledge to supplement what is being taught in the college classroom; and if desired, their names sent to stations around the state indicating that they passed the RMP exam.

Key concepts covered in the RMP course include:

• Consultant-Style Selling
• Working with Retail Accounts
• Competitive Media
• Making Money with RAB Resources
• Prospecting for Success
• Getting the First Appointment
• Conducting a Successful Needs Analysis
• Preparing Written Presentations
• Presentation Skills
• Goal Setting
• Time Management
• Creating Successful Schedules
• The Role of Creative
• The Goldmine in Co-op Advertising
• The Proud History of Radio
• Closing

The seminar is normally presented in a two day format, but it can be adapted to most situations.

Thanks to the generous financial support of the WBA Foundation, the student’s cost for the seminar is only $25. Usual cost for RMP course materials runs $159 therefore, you are getting a great deal for only $25. This fee includes materials, refreshments, and the certification exam.

The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation will update as to dates and locations for RMP course opportunities.
