The proposed 10dB increase to digital sideband power levels for stations broadcasting with HD Radio(tm) technology in the FM band will have significant impact on equipment and infrastructure requirements. Even if the sideband power were to increase by a lesser amount, the effect will be much more serious than many have realized. This session discusses the increase and the associated changes that may be required with various methods of injecting the HD Radio signal onto the analog. In addition, it discusses technology that has been implemented, or is being developed, to assist stations in achieving the highest possible signal level increase with the least possible impact.

This is a chance for Wisconsin Broadcast Engineers and Wisconsin MSO representatives to exchange information and relevant details so that no subscriber is left behind on February 17th, 2009. Broadcasters should come ready with contact and technical information of all the TV stations in the State and be prepared to answer questions related to their digital transmission facilities. Wisconsin MSO operators will provide their signal pickup points in the State, which TV stations are received at each point, and which municipalities are served from each pickup point. Following formal presentations each MSO will setup in an area where each broadcaster can visit and exchange specific information.
